Lounge: Air France-KLM, International Terminal A, San Francisco International

Date of visit: August 24, 2022

Rating: 4 stars out of 5

Pros: Extensive hot food and alcohol selections, cheese offerings

Cons: Very crowded, Priority Pass guests often denied entry at peak times

I’ve visited the SFO Air France-KLM Lounge more than ten times since I signed up for Priority Pass in 2016. Thus I was surprised to discover I hadn’t written a review for it— until now.

The greatest appeal of Air France-KLM is the food and drink selection. There is always soup and a wide array of cold meats, cheeses and crudités. For lunch and dinner there is typically a rice-protein combo and grilled or steam veggies. The wine and spirits selections are top notch. Once, at night, I saw a nicely arranged wine and cheese presentation at the front (and promptly availed myself of it).

The biggest downside is the crowds. This lounge services three airlines: not just Air France and KLM but also Korean Air. Thus you’ll always be sitting next to a neighbor and often be hearing their conversation. The crowds are biggest at 11 am — 3 pm and 3:30 pm — 6:30 pm. During these times Priority Pass guests may be denied entry. When this happens, the lounge still provides some refreshments, which is a to-go stand featuring sandwiches, salads, chips and soft drinks. Even if you visit during peak times, you may get lucky and be allowed to enter. (I was on a Friday at 2pm in June 2022.)

I was denied entry on my last visit, so I was only able to take one photo. I’ll post more pics when I’m allowed to go inside on a future visit.
