Note: This lounge has been retired.

Check out my review of its replacement, Airport Lounge World.

Lounge: Atlantic Lounge, Terminal 1, Munich Franz-Josef Strauss Airport

Date of visit: July 1, 2018

Rating: 4 stars out of 5

Pros: Nice beverage selection, showers

Cons: Far from Lufthansa flights, cold appetizers only in buffet, layout feels claustrophobic

Note for Lufthansa passengers. If your layover is 90 minutes or longer, you can check out Atlantic Lounge in Terminal 1 and make it back to Terminal 2 in time for your flight. There are two ways to get there. The short way is taking a special bus at gate H17 in T2. This bus goes directly to the C section of T1, which is where the lounge is located. Bus runs every 15 minutes.

The long way, which I took, is to take the airport train to the entrance of T1, leave the terminal on foot, walk 10 minutes to T2 and go through security. Then you have to clear immigration in at the C gates. (Luckily, there was no line when I visited on a Sunday afternoon.) 10 more minutes of walking. Total transit time: 30 minutes.

Main seating area is nicely spaced out; modern German furniture design is a tasteful touch
Additional seating located around the corner
Beverage selection includes espresso from an automatic machine and soft drinks in glass bottles
Buffet features Bavarian cold snacks, including fried poultry and a delicious sausage spread
Showers are clean and functional
