Lounge: Airport Lounge World, Module B, Terminal 1, Munich Franz-Josef Strauss Airport

Date of visit: May 14, 2019

Rating: 5 stars out of 5

Pros: Bright and airy space with comfortable seating, nice buffet and beverages, amenities galore

Cons: Far from Lufthansa flights

Note for Lufthansa passengers: if your layover is 90 minutes or longer, you can make a short stop at Airport Lounge World in Terminal 1 and return to Terminal 2 in time for your flight. Take the connector bus from T2, which stops at gates H17 and G83 and drops you off at T1 gate C08. Bus runs every 15 minutes. Note that you need to pass immigration control in T1 (line is usually short).

Look for “BUS” signs pointing you to the right stop

Airport Lounge World replaced the old Atlantic lounge in 2019. What a refreshing change! The old lounge felt claustrophobic; the new one is adorned with high ceilings, ample sunlight and views of the runway. Notably, there are two spacious floors with loads of seating.

First Floor

The main floor was fairly busy when I visited (a Tuesday afternoon). Still, it’s so spacious that it never feels hectic. This floor features a bistro with hot buffet.

Seating areas are spacious and well lit
Hot buffet features scrumptious mains, and condiments
Wide array of cold foods
Beverages feature German liqueurs
Grab a snack to go!
Free luggage storage

Second Floor

Ascend the stairs to the second floor and you’ll sense that you arrived in the clouds. Feels much more private than the first floor. It has snacks, beverages, showers and a meditation room (not pictured).

If you’re returning to Terminal 2, go back to C08 and wait for the bus.
